Stage 3b lung cancer is that stage of lung cancer where it cannot be removed through surgery. It actually means that at this stage of lung cancer, there are no chances of curing the disease or even to prevent it from growing further. This is the deadly and most traumatic stage for the people suffering from the malignant disease. It is basically the non small lung cancer in which the cancer is divided into various stages starting from the primary to the last stages of lung cancer. Stage 3 in lung cancer is further divided into stages 3a and 3b; in which stage 3b is most unfortunate without any possibilities of saving the patient from the chances of death. Being the most deadly stage of lung cancer, 3b stage notifies that the lung cancer has reached the body tissues very near to the place from where it originated. These areas could be:

-    The area surrounding the heart including the major arteries (the mediastinum).

-    Associated lymph nodes or those away from the affected lungs.

-    The chest wall or the diaphragm. Staging of lung cancer actually means diagnosing the level to which cancer has spread in the body. This is crucial so as to know what stage of lung cancer the patient is suffering from and accordingly the treatment would be started. The treatment of lung cancer depends crucially on the stages it is divided into. All staging for stage 3b lung cancer comprises of the following: -   

All the information related to the size of the tumor.

-    Knowing whether the lung cancer has spread to other organ symptoms of the body or not.

-    Checking out if the cancer is present in the lymph nodes or not. Staging of lung cancer is basically grouping of cancer into different stages depending upon its spread and gravity. Lung cancer is mainly divided into four groups, depending upon how far and to what organ systems the disease has spread in the patient’s body. The stages from one to three are further categorized into sub groups such as stage 3a and stage 3b of lung cancer.   There have developed a number of models on the study of stage 3b lung cancer, along with that various researchers and medical practitioners are coming up with their new findings and training centers where the trainer would impart knowledge to those coming for study. Also, there is a model specific to the study of each stage of lung cancer in which the various common symptoms of lung cancer like scarring and thickening of the lungs are studied in order to expand the research and develop new ways of treating lung cancer. Stage 3b lung cancer could mean either of the following:

-    There exists more than one tumor in the affected part of the lung.

-    The tumor has outgrown into a new major structure in the chest that could be either your windpipe or the heart.

-    A fluid collection surrounding the lungs containing the cancer cells or pleural effusion. So, stage 3b lung cancer can possibly turn into a massive human fibrosis, which could be prevented only if the disease is diagnosed in the early stages.
